As the leaves turn there crimson mix of orange delights
the duck festival again showcases the world famous
ducks that have made Brome Lake famous. There are
sidewalk boutiques and culinery demonstrations and
competitions by world-class chefs who converge on
Knowlton for this prestigous event. Always a crowd-pleaser
the Duck Festival is one of the most popular events
in the tourist season. How could anything that combines
good food and great wine together in one of the prettiest

Every Saturday throughout the summer the Town
of Lac Brome (Knowlton) will be presenting a Farmer's Market. Fresh vegetables,
fruits, cheeses, smoked fish, homemade pies and fresh cut flowers will be offered
in an outdoor market environment. The Market will be located at 48 Maple Street
in Knowlton and will run from 10am to 1pm every Saturday. See you there!

The Brome Fair Quebec's largest agricultural fair is celebrating
it's 150 anniversary! This promises to be the biggest party of
the season with music, food, rides, and more animals and fun than
you can shake a stick at! Come see why people keep coming back
to the Brome Fair year after year. This year featuring Wayne Rostad
of CBC's" On the Road Again" notoriety. Tickets are
$10 for adults but most folks pick up the four-day pass for $25
since there's too much to see in one day! Presented at the Brome

Bottle Drive to help fund the Beavers, Cubs & Scouts
of Knowlton
Saturday
September 9th from 9am to 3pm a bottle drive will be held to help
reduce the registration costs for the kids wanting to go into
the local scouting program. There will be some door-to-door pick-ups
but why not just bring your empty bottles down to the garage on
Victoria just north of Knowlton Road.

Sign up for kids in the Knowlton Scouting Movement
The
1st Knowlton Scouting Movement is encouraging children to come
and join the popular group. Beavers for ages 5-7, Cubs for ages
8-11 and Scouts from ages 12-16. The meetings will be held on
Wednesday evenings from September through to June 2007. Registration
will be at Knowlton Academy on September 13th from 6:30 to 8:00

Townshippers' Day While not actually happening in Knowlton
we're all sure to be heading to the popular 26th Annual Townshippers
Day in Richmond, not far from Knowlton.
Come and celebrate the Eastern Townships in the annual gathering
that highlights our pride in the region. Activities for the whole
family include artisans displaying their crafts, storytellers,
good food, baking and displays as local museums, historical societies
and heritage groups offer wonderful displays about the Eastern
Townships history. There will also be entertainment by musicians
including the Choromondo Choir, alternative rockers Imogen Grant,
from Lennoxville The Ryot an up-and-coming folk rock band and
Sarah Biggs from West Brome who in 2002 recorded the album Ruled
by Emotion. while living in Oshawa Ontario.
This year the event takes place at the Richmond fairgroundsFrom
Mansonville, Lac Brome and Cowansville take the 243 North to the
village of Melbourne and then into Richmond.

will be a thrift sale at the Brome Hall from 9am to 2pm and again
on Monday the 18th from 9am until noon. Come out and find a treasure!

First Responders 3rd Annual Fund Raising Golf Tournament.
The Town of Brome Lake First Responders are holding their annual
golf tournament September 23rd, 2006 at the Lac Brome Golf Club.
The First Responders are the life saving angels that respond to
local emergencies and have become an important and respected part
of our community. All profits from the day will help to maintain
a much-needed service, by providing medical equipment and supplies
responders require on the job. If you are interested in donating
or sponsoring part of the tournament or want to know how to sign
up your team and make a few birdies for a goof cause contact Amy

Dead Ducks - Get a Taste For Canadian Crime Writers
Meet well-known writer Nancy Grant who is the Vice President of
the Quebec and Atlantic provinces regional branch of Crime Writers
of Canada. Nancy is the author of Montreal's spy thriller "Race"
series. The event will be held at Brome Lake Books, 264 Knowlton

Ecosphere Presented by the "Group Écosphère",
a non-profit organization, will hold its first ever multidisciplinary
fair dedicated exclusively to ecology and the environment.
Workshops will include:
- Organic farming
- Identification and conservation of medicinal forest plants
- The state of our forests
- Benefits of a healthy home
- Solar energy and geothermics
- Building straw-bale housing
- Building a masonry stove
- Sustainable development
The principal goal of the Ecosphere event is to heighten awareness
by bringing together key players in the environmental world. These
include companies operating in green architecture, new technologies,
organic farming and alternative medicines, as well as speakers
and community organizations whose aim is to inspire people to

The 2006 Duck Festival poster pictured here is certainly one
of the best ever produced to commemorate the world-famous event. The bold colors
and playful design are striking and reproductrions of the poster are sure to be
a much loved item. The artist is Marie-Andrée Leblond and she is one of
the most popular artists of the Galerie Knowlton where she exhibits her work all

by Laura Teasdale. A play based on the premise that Patsy Cline
could have met Hank Williams at the beginning of her career
and in the last year of his life. This play revolves around
this meeting with all the fantastic country music you would
expect to hear. This is being brought back by popular demand.
